Luckily we completed the clearing, restoration and enlargement of a pond above the Bear enclosure just before the weather turned. 850 native trees have just arrived for this area and work has started to get them planted. Every year several thousand tress, shrubs and grasses are planted around the park and on adjoining land. We vary the species, age and planting method each time, so that despite the high failure rate, a good, random mix is achieved. Another problem is that they often prove to be in the wrong place, and a few years down the line, just as they are established, a number will have to come out - but such is life!
