Tuataras

06/02/2025

Our second delivery has arrived for our import of Tuatara fully electric utility vehicles. The batteries are sent separately to economise shipping costs and have now been fitted to our three machines which are ready to go and be put to work as soon as their paperwork is sorted.
It has proved impossible to find such a machine in the UK, where most similar units are either much too expensive, too flimsy or do not have enough load space.
The e-Tuataras are the ideal solution and we would like to thank the head-office in Christchurch for all their help.
Hamerton Zoo Park uniquely generates all of the power we need from our wind-turbines and solar panel arrays, and our newly installed battery storage system will go a small way to help mitigate the very unfair discrepancy between what we are forced to sell our surplus power for, and what we have to pay for what we import = currently around -700%. Further solar arrays are planned for 2025, to further improve the new storage system.
Our picture shows a couple of Tuataras in their native habitat - the Southern Alps.
