Reptile House Revamp...
06/07/2024
Our reptile house will soon be open again, after a full electrical refit.
Many of the animals have changed enclosures and a number of new species will be moved on-show over the next few weeks.
An off-exhibit quarantine and isolation unit was built over the winter which allows us to introduce new animals and move current ones whilst work is being done.
Beaded Lizards have been held here for a while and will be moved soon, to join the Gila Monsters. This mean we will have both species of venomous lizard on display. Black Tree-Monitors are a rare lizard from the Aru Islands in Indonesia. Our two babies are a pair and are growing on nicely, so it is time to move these on-show too.
