Pudu Moves...
10/09/2020
Pudu are the World's smallest deer, and are endangered in their native habitat, the forests of the southern tip of South America - where conservation attempts are not managing to reduce threats to their numbers. As a safeguard, around 100 animals are found in zoos in North America and Europe, and Chilean Pudu breed very successfully here at Hamerton Zoo Park.
As part of the EEP conservation programme organised in Europe, many young Pudu born at Hamerton have been sent to other Zoos across the continent.
The latest move by the EEP is a young home-bred female who left this morning, headed to Zoo Blijdorp in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
We would like to thank Cross-Border-Animal-Services for their thorough and careful organisation of this transport.
