New Reptile Arrivals...
15/12/2019
This weekend has seen the arrival of two new species of reptiles which we mentioned in the news item below.
Moving into a recently re-furbished enclosure in our reptile area, is a female Mangrove Snake. These beautiful black and yellow snakes, native to South-east Asia, are medium sized and spend much of their time in the branches of trees. They have a reputation for being quite fierce and are not kept by many zoos. Our female came from a private breeder and whilst she is settling in, we will start the search for a suitable mate for her.
Also newly arrived are a pair of baby Eastern Water Dragons, which have come to us from Germany. One of the larger Australian agamid lizards, this species can grow up to a metre long. Our new babies will have to stay off-show for a little while they establish themselves and put on some growth.
