Binturongs Move...

18/07/2023

Our new Binturong enclosure was completed recently and the family of 4 which used to live in the old tiger barn moved in just last week. Several of the group have been brave enough to explore their large new outdoor enclosure and we are confident that they will soon prove to be a popular exhibit.
Binturongs are a strange type of Civet and are becomming common in zoos in the UK. Hamerton Zoo Park has kept them since the 1990s when few people in this country knew what they were. Since then 18 youngsters have been reared, some of which are living in zoos in the Czech Republic, Germany Australia and Russia, as well as all over the UK, including Crocodiles-of-the-World in Oxfordshire who received a young female from Hamerton last week when our group moved. They now have an unrelated pair of Binturongs on loan from Hamerton.
