Baby Geckos...
20/09/2021
Not only very small but also very young; a pair of tiny lizards has just arrived in our reptile section. The Carter's Rock Gecko is sometimes called the Scorpion Gecko because of its habit of carrying its tail arched over its back if it is threatened or nervous. These Geckos, which are found in hot dry areas of the Sinai Peninsular which links Eqyptian North Africa to the Middle East, are unusual because they are active by day. Our two babies were captive born earlier this year and have settled in quickly and are already feeding. Whilst they are so small they will be kept off exhibit, but we hope they will be able to move in with out Eqyptian Tortoises later in the year.
