Baby Civets make their Debut...
21/08/2024
White-bearded Civets come from Sumatra, and can only be seen in the UK here at Hamerton Zoo Park.
We understand that our adult pair are the only members of their species to have ever bred outside their native country, and our female has done it again this year! - and produced her fourth litter.
All of her past babies have been singles, but this time she had three! Although she made a very good start to rearing this huge family, it was decided at a few weeks old that our keepers would finish the rearing process for her, and for the safety of the babies.
This has gone well, and now at seven weeks old, the triplets will be soon making their first public appearance.
Once they have grown up and their sexes can be ascertained for sure, we hope to be able to establish a second pair at another zoo.
