Animal Moves a-Plenty...
11/03/2019
Most of our recent news items have covered new arrivals at the Park, but this time we have news of lots of departures too. All of the following are YOUNG ANIMALS BORN AT HAMERTON which are moving to other Zoos as part of a variety of breeding and conservation programmes. Camels and Zebras are about to travel to Zoos in Italy; Rufous Bettongs have gone to two Zoos in the Czech Republic; Collared Lemurs ditto; Giant Donkeys to three different destinations in the UK; a Sloth to Poland and a Pudu to France.
If we wanted to be part of the scare-mongering, we could claim that all of these were down to Brexit; but in reality these plans usually wait for better weather and are often done in spring and autumn. April will see others which are being planned at the moment, including Grison to Germany - and several new species due to arrive, too.
