Hamerton Zoo Park

Our pair of Mainland Wombats arrived at Hamerton, from Queensland, in March 2018. They are now very settled into their new home, and our Wombat enclosure was opened later that year. They have had 3 joeys since and are still the only animals of their species in the UK.

The Wombats at Hamerton are the only ones in the UK, and part of our fabulous and unique collection of Australian animals - one of the largest and most diverse outside Australia. Wombats, Possums, Quolls, Wallabies, Cockatoos, Cassowaries, Scrub Turkeys and other birds - with more to come! The next phase, with our new Wombat enclosure is due to open in August 2018, along with our first walk-through aviairy - watch this space..!
